STERIS Spordex biological indicator strips are specifically designed to determine the effectiveness of steam, ethylene oxide (EO) and dry heat sterilisation processes. Each strip is inoculated with bacterial spores, either Bacillus atrophaeus (BA) (formerly Bacillus subtilis var. niger) for ethylene oxide and dry heat sterilisation or Geobacillus stearothermophilus (GS) for saturated steam sterilisation. The batch number, organism and expiry date are printed on each easily removable glassine pouch. Spordex biological indicator strips are available in a variety of standard populations as well as customised configurations.
How it works
Spordex Biological Indicator Strips are small strips of special filter paper inoculated with bacterial spores, either Bacillus atrophaeus (BA) for ethylene oxide and dry heat sterilisation or Geobacillus stearothermophilus (GS) for saturated steam sterilisation. Each strip is packaged in a glassine envelope and is used for validation or requalification of sterilisation processes.
