Anodizing

Anodic oxidation, also known as anodizing, is an electrochemical process in which a protective layer is created on a metal surface, commonly aluminum. This process is carried out by immersing the metal in an electrolyte solution and applying an electrical voltage.

During anodizing, a dense oxide layer of 5 to 30 micrometers forms on the surface of the metal, known as the anodic layer.

Advantages of anodizing

This layer offers several advantages, including increased corrosion resistance, improved mechanical properties, and enhanced hardness. Aluminum is a comparatively base metal and thus tends to oxidize quickly. Maximum protection is therefore particularly desirable for outdoor applications. In contrast to other protective measures such as paint coatings or lacquering, anodizing emphasizes the metallic character of the aluminum and offers optimum corrosion protection. A particular advantage of this method is the possibility of coloring the oxide layer electrolytically or chemically in different hues without losing the metallic character of the aluminum. Anodizing can also be used to prepare the surface for subsequent powder coatings such as paint.

Advantages of colored anodized surfaces:

In comparison with the uncolored base material, colored anodized surfaces offer higher resistance to weathering, UV radiation, aging or fading, cracking or flaking, corrosion, and chemicals. They fully retain the structure and finish of the base material.

Precise finishing in three steps

Our anodizing process begins with careful pre-treatment of your application, including optional grinding, followed by degreasing, pickling, and decapping. After this preparation, anodizing takes place. Your order is then sealed, finally cleaned, checked, packed, and delivered to you.

We would be happy to advise you and work together to achieve the best result and the highest quality for your order.

Our baths are ready and waiting

With our large-format anodizing baths measuring 7 x 0.9 x 1.5 meters, we can also treat large parts with the utmost precision and care.
